April and May

April and May bring green outdoor backgrounds once more. Seniors get really busy with end of the year activities, so it's better to do it sooner than later.
June is one of the best times of the year for Senior Portraits. There is greater availability for daytime appointments since the students are out of school, and the days are longer. The weather is gorgeous with lot's of beautiful green grass, blossoming flowers and trees full of leaves.

July and August are also great months for Senior Portraits. Although the afternoons can be quite hot, the outdoor backgrounds are full of summer colors and beautiful settings. This time of year it is best to shoot in the early morning or early evening. The light is beautiful.

In September, the weather is fabulous, but it becomes a bit more difficult to schedule sessions because of the kid's jobs, sports, school, homework, etc. Due to less daylight hours we are forced to schedule all outside appointments by 3:00 or before in the afternoon. At this point, spaces for afternoons and Saturdays fill very quickly. A September session would be great for students that get out of school early.

During October the outdoor colors change and it is beautiful! The textures are gorgeous. The red, yellow and brown colors of fall leaves make nice outdoor backgrounds. Shorter days mean we have to schedule location appointments earlier in the day.

This time of year is ideal for portraits in the studio. Outdoor session s in cold temperatures bring out red noses, runny eyes and general discomfort.

Time is running out to get portraits back in time to be in your graduation announcements.

We shoot Senior Sessions in the studio, or on location.

First and foremost, Relax. They will have fun. Encourage your senior to get involved in the shoot, by asking them what they want to wear and where they want to shoot. Do they want to shoot in the studio, or would they rather shoot on location?
For girls, this definitely calls for a mani-pedi. ;o) We recommend classic natural nails. (We don't want this to look dated.)
If you want, go for it! We have Hair and Make-up stylists that will meet them here in the studio to prepare for their shots.
For boys, they usually want as little fuss made over this, as possible.

Bring 3 outfits – casual, formal or glamourous.
They can be as casual or as dressed up as they like. Jeans to party dresses - sports jerseys to suit & tie.
Try to bring a variety of color and different neck lines – anything that suits their personality will photograph well.
The more effort you put into bringing the clothes they want to be photographed in the better their shoot will be.

For girls, bring some heels, scarves, jewelry, flowers, hats and accessories. Boys may want to bring in sporting gear, for example. Choices are good. The more the better! You want to have a variety of shots to choose from for your final prints or album.

I recommend that you hire my stylists to be here to style your hair for the shoot. Do not flat iron your hair, if you are utilizing my stylist, as it will be more difficult for her to get your hair to cooperate.

I recommend that you use my professional makeup artist in the studio who will remain here for most of the shoot to do touch-ups.
